Bio

I am currently a 24 year old BA Fine Art student studying at South Essex College. My goal with my art is to channel how I am feeling at any given time into my work and present it to the world in a manner that accurately portrays my feelings. My aim is to always create pieces which evoke emotion, whether positive or negative.

Gouache is my medium of choice however, most of my work turns into mixed media pieces, using pens, pastels, and acrylics. Most of my work is defined by heavy use of black, whether it be to outline or to create dark shadows. I enjoy working on wood, usually, pieces which are due to be scrapped or have been used in the past and can be recycled, I feel the old, rough, distressed look of these planks can help to portray certain emotions easier in work than a perfect clean canvas can.

Creating sculpture out of the weird and wonderful is also a passion, in the past, I have made a brick out of an unused sponge and a bridge piece made entirely out of ice using water from the same river it was later placed in.

While my subject matter and themes often change, the human body and portraiture is something I often come back to, I have produced entire bodies of work centring around parts of the human self such as hands and feet, while also getting much more personal by creating an entire set of works based around my family and personal relationships via portraiture.

My aim for the future of my work is to continue creating things which personally bring me joy and allowing me to share my work with others. In the future I hope to undertake an MA so that I may continue with my passion and achieve my dreams.
